The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mean throws a right and a left that Sonnen avoids nicely.
Sonnen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mean moves into range and connects with a jab.
Sonnen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Sonnen tries to clinch up but Mean circles away and keeps his distance.
Dean Mean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sonnen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mean counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Mean connects with an inside leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mean throws a body punch but Sonnen moves out of range.
A combination from Mean does no damage.

Mean throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sonnen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mean avoids it really well and circles away.
Mean stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mean wants it to stay on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lucas shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lopez eats them both and turns towards Lucas to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Mike Lopez has been cut.
Lopez slips a straight right by Lucas.
Lopez takes one to the chin there.

Lucas lands a left and a right that sends Lopez crashing to the canvas! Lucas dives into mount looking to finish!

Lopez is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Lopez wants to hold on but Lucas pushes him away.

Lucas stalks Lopez and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lopez's face. Lopez staggers backwards, shaken.
Lucas goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Lucas throws the left hand but Lopez avoids the punch easily.
Lopez gets cracked there but stands up to it.

The cut above Mike Lopez's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Lopez wants to take the fight to the mat but Lucas manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Lopez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lucas walks away with a smile on his face. Lopez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
