The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juan lunges at Deegan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Deegan's hand.

and Juan counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Juan.

Juan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Deegan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

We've been told by Smith 's head coaches at LOD: Xtreme MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A lazy left from Laulu finds it's target.
Laulu swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Laulu has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Laulu tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
