Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buddy Brandon!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brandon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hughes is looking for a sweep. Brandon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brandon in particular looking to stall.
Let's hope that Brandon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Buddy Brandon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Brandon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hughes won't be happy with that.
Brandon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Brandon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Calloway.
