The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duquesnoy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Guel seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Guel is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Duquesnoy is aware though and is defending well.

Guel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duquesnoy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duquesnoy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Guel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Duquesnoy defends it easily.

Duquesnoy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Guel moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Quick misses with a takedown attempt
and Ciftci counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Quick has his feet on Ciftci's thighs here. He's pushed Ciftci off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Ciftci screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Nice sprawl there from North as Vazquez shoots in.

Vazquez throws a series of punches but North avoids them all with ease.

and Vazquez counters with a nice body shot.
North really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Vazquez shoots for a double leg takedown but North sprawls well. He's pushed Vazquez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
North throws a big counter combination but Vazquez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

No joy there for Vazquez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've been hearing good reports from North's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
