The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zaki gets a double leg takedown into Edwards's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zaki stays in close to Edwards's body and controls the position.
Zaki really is a fat lump.
Zaki seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Edwards for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zaki looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Edwards is fending him off so far but Zaki persists. Nope, Edwards circles away and we're back to standing.

Edwards fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zaki.

and Edwards counters with a big head kick but Zaki shrugs it off.
Edwards scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Edwards connects with a good right hand that stumbles Zaki. Zaki circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Zaki shoots in and drives through. Edwards sprawls well.
Edwards throws out a counter right but Zaki avoids it with no problem.

Zaki closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Edwards's guard.
Zaki is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Zaki postures up and lands a big shot to Edwards's brow.

Zaki stands up from Edwards's guard - Zaki perhaps looking for a knockout.
Zaki looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Edwards throws a head kick that Zaki semi-blocks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zaki goes for a double leg but Edwards avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Edwards continues to drive forward.

Zaki dives in and grabs Edwards's left leg, looking for a takedown. Edwards pushes down on Zaki's head and hops out.
Zaki stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Edwards.
Zaki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Zaki shoots in but Edwards avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edwards lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Edwards feints and then cracks Zaki's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Zaki down.
Zaki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Edwards tries to avoid it but Zaki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Edwards to the ground. Edwards escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Zaki swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Zaki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Edwards's half guard.
Edwards is looking to get back to is feet but Zaki passes into side control.
Zaki Zaki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zaki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zaki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Zaki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Edwards knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Edwards is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Zaki locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Edwards is forced to tap!

We've been told by Destructor 's head coaches at Odins Body Workshop that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
