Love-Hate Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powell works Shephard's body with a nice hook.

Powell looks to score with a jab to the body but Shephard is just out of range.
Shephard moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Love-Hate Powell has been cut.
Shephard changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Powell tries to avoid it but Shephard manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Powell to the ground. Powell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shephard has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shephard and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Powell has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
