Lawler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Saltsage's waist but Saltsage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lawler off to one side.

Lawler changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Shermann has eaten all the pies!
Big Guy scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Shermann shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Big Guy's guard.

Big Guy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shermann doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shermann manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Undercard bout

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Buck Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Rokocoko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brown might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cannibal Corpes - Hammer smashed face. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rokocoko connects with a nice looking jab.
Rokocoko lands a glancing blow to the side of Brown's head.
Brown will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rokocoko tries to counter with a clinch but Brown shakes him off and moves away.
Brown has a takedown stuffed.

Brown closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rokocoko quickly recovers to half guard.
Rokocoko moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Rokocoko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brown with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Brown drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brown jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Brown passes Rokocoko's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rokocoko tries to kick Brown off in order to stand up. Brown Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brown tries for a kimura but Rokocoko is defending well.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Brown has hold of Rokocoko's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Rokocoko tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Brown cranks the arm and Rokocoko screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Rokocoko, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
