The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minakov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cezar sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Minakov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cezar throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cezar moves forwards but Minakov connects with a nice, crisp jab.

It looks like Julio Cezar has been cut.
Minakov throws out a loose jab but Cezar uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cezar avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Minakov darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Cezar's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Minakov before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Brown shoots for a takedown but Blumenthal saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Blumenthal has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Brown is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Apache fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Palonesess avoids it really well and circles away.
Palonesess changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Apache misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Altintop Palonesess has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Geronimo Apache.
Palonesess wants to clinch up but Apache keeps it at a distance.

Robbie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tom did well to prevent Robbie getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Robbie is working for a kimura but Tom is defending it quite comfortably.

Tom is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Robbie pulls his head out easily.
Tom has hold of Robbie's hands but Robbie slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Robbie perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Tom is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Robbie decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

My spies in Arvins Bootcamp inform me that Tom has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Tom should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Arones is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Joshua off and has taken his back!

Arones is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Joshua defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gabriel Arones.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Arones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
