The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorsen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Thorsen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Thorsen throws a hook but Fatu blocks it.

Fatu shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thorsen napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Thorsen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Fatu has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Thorsen throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Thorsen gets caught flat footed, as Fatu shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fatu is in close to Thorsen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Fatu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Fatu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fatu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Thorsen is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Cylon Training Academy that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Thorsen goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Thorsen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fatu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fatu moves into the clinch successfully.
Fatu has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Thorsen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Odin Thorsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keola Fatu.
Fatu throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Thorsen blocks it with crossed arms.

Thorsen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thorsen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Thorsen is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Thorsen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Fatu's head backwards.

Thorsen feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Fatu sprawling to the canvas! Fatu rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Thorsen finish him?!

Fatu is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thorsen closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Fatu out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
