The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCarthy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mies is trying to drag McCarthy to the mat but McCarthy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mies wants a takedown but no success here.

McCarthy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mies, pushing him back against the cage.

Mies closes the distance and clinches up with McCarthy, looking for a takedown. Mies pushes McCarthy against the cage but McCarthy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Strikes tries to clinch there but West circles away.
West tries a head kick but it misses.
West throws a sloppy head kick and Strikes moves out of range easily.
Crunch! West slams his shin into Strikes's torso.
Strikes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts West as he jumps to the side.
Strikes fails to land the takedown.
West plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Carlos Strikes has been cut.
West moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
West throws a head kick that misses.
West closes the distance and clinches up with Strikes, looking for a takedown. West pushes Strikes against the cage but Strikes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Strikes tries to score a power double leg takedown but West sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Strikes somewhat.
Strikes has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Wayde West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
