The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leach leaves Shahriari with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shahriari has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Shahriari closes the distance and clinches up with Leach, looking for a takedown. Shahriari pushes Leach against the cage but Leach circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Aldo Vurny will probably get the nod.

Vurny postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have High in real trouble here! The ref calls for High to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Aldo Vurny decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
