The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Life catches Parisyen with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Parisyen tries a head kick but it misses.
Life lands a nice leg kick that just misses Parisyen's sensitive parts.
Parisyen walks into a left hand.
Life keeps the fight on the outside.

Parisyen rushes Life and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Life gets through Parisyen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Life lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Life is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Parisyen is keeping busy.

Jackson wants to pass the guard but Kohler is keeping the position.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thierry Paulin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Paulin lands a big head kick that sends Vandergnaw tumbling to the mat! Paulin takes a step backwards and waves Vandergnaw back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Butch Vandergnaw has been cut.
We've been informed that Paulin has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Vandergnaw drops his hands momentarily and Paulin needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Vandergnaw just on the top of the head. Vandergnaw drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Vandergnaw - he's done!

Embalmer comes to the cage accompanied by Katy Perry - Dark Horse ft. Juicy J. Gavira has chosen Wicked & Tun as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gavira goes for a double leg but Embalmer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Embalmer continues to drive forward.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Embalmer controls the position.
Gavira wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Gavira is trying to control Embalmer's posture but Embalmer avoids it.

Embalmer is trying to get an arm triangle but Gavira is defending well.
Embalmer connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gavira some visible discomfort.
Embalmer throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Embalmer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gavira knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gavira wants to control but Embalmer postures up.

Embalmer remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Gavira pushes Embalmer away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Embalmer gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

You can see the frustration on Gavira's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Embalmer in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Gavira wants to get back to his feet but Embalmer drags him back down.

Embalmer misses with the ground and pound.
Gavira seems a little lost for a moment, as Embalmer dominates the positioning.

Embalmer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gavira is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gavira manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Embalmer moves into full guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Gavira working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Embalmer is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gavira rolls with it to try and escape but Embalmer cranks on the arm and Gavira is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Egyptian Embalmer!
A relieved looking Egyptian Embalmer thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
