The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bottura connects with a nice looking jab.
Bottura misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A left and a right from Cartagena both land. Nice combination.
Good leg kick by Bottura there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bottura takes a swing at Cartagena's ribcage but misses.
Cartagena looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Cartagena throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bottura walks into a jab.
Bottura fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Cartagena has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Bottura looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bottura goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Cartagena throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
As Cartagena looks to move away, Bottura throws a big counter combo but Cartagena just gets out of the way.

Bottura cracks Cartagena with an open hand slap.
Bottura misses with an attempted mid kick.

Cartagena ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bottura moves away.
Caio Bottura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bottura with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cartagena to score with a decent uppercut.
Bottura throws out a leg kick but Cartagena moves out of range and Bottura only half commits.
The fighters circling - Cartagena throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bottura's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cartagena under the eye.
Bottura throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Cartagena's head.

Bottura is looking to slow Cartagena down with leg kicks.

Cartagena gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Bottura gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Cartagena is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Sensei gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Malingo takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Malingo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sensei.
It seemed like Malingo was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Sensei lands a nice hook to Malingo's body. Malingo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Sensei throws a big shot that misses.
Malingo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Malingo avoids the body shot from Sensei.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sensei. Malingo does a little dance to reset his feet.

Sensei has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Sensei looks up at the clock and then as Malingo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sensei smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Ryan (ranked 466 p4p, 71 weight class) and Ryu Aokison (ranked 853 p4p, 124 weight class). Ryan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Animals - House of the Rising Sun. Aokison has chosen Caroline as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ryan throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

Ryan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Aokison's guard.

Ryan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Aokison.
Aokison misses with a takedown attempt - Ryan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

As Aokison looks to move away, Ryan throws a big counter combo but Aokison just gets out of the way.
No joy there for Aokison, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ryan goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Aokison drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ryan defends it well.
Ryan misses with an uppercut.
Ryan misses with a straight left.
Aokison takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Ryu Aokison has been cut.
Ryan lands with a slapping head kick.
Aokison throws a nice looking combination but Ryan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ryan throws a body shot but no joy.
A jab from Ryan misses.
Aokison tries to clinch there but Ryan circles away.
Ryan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ryan drops Aokison with a naaaaasty hook - Aokison is in real trouble here! Ryan dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
