Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Baeddan MacAuliffe (ranked 6700 p4p, 450 weight class) and Leo Yaj (ranked 4549 p4p, 354 weight class). MacAuliffe comes to the cage accompanied by Notorious by Duran Duran. Yaj has chosen Dragula - Rob Zombie as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

MacAuliffe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yaj looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Yaj stops MacAuliffe from passing to mount.
Yaj tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Yaj is trying to escape the mount.
MacAuliffe sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Yaj keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

MacAuliffe looking to secure an arm triangle but Yaj defends it well.
MacAuliffe throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Yaj because MacAuliffe loaded up on that one.

Yaj is in a horrible position here. MacAuliffe smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
BOOM! MacAuliffe connects with a massive shot to the dome!

MacAuliffe is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Yaj can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yaj is looking to improve his position but MacAuliffe isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, MacAuliffe cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fighters circling - Shot throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A little feinted left hand from Sakurai on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Shot lands a lovely overhand right.
Shot lands a body shot.
Sakurai misses with a hook.
Shot throws a jab when Sakurai was well out of range.
Sakurai on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shot's coach down at Soul Supremacy Rio was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Shot's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

A counter left hand to the body from Sakurai misses its target.

Sakurai was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Shot blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Shot jumps guard but Sakurai stands there with Shot around his waist. Shot gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Shot ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shot no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Harlamov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Harlamov lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That was a close round but I would say that Laat Dovah-Kinn will probably get the nod.

A nice side step and Rothschild releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
