Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charles Xavier (ranked 4158 p4p, 332 weight class) and Mike Blake (ranked 5433 p4p, 390 weight class). Charles Xavier had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Mike Blake acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Stoneheart tries to clinch but Whelan is having none of it.

Sean Whelan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adrian Stoneheart.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stoneheart closes the distance looking to clinch

and Whelan counters with a nice right hand that sends Stoneheart toppling to the canvas! Stoneheart scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Whelan finish him?!

Stoneheart misses with a takedown attempt - Whelan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Whelan counters with a huge left! Stoneheart is in big trouble! He's backing up but Whelan isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Stoneheart from any more damage. A dominating finish by Whelan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sean Whelan!
Sean Whelan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
