The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez misses with an uppercut.

Mendez drives through and clinches with Peralta against the cage.

Peralta looks to land a combination but Mendez avoids it well.

Mendez appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Mendez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Mendez is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Peralta tries to close the distance and clinch but Mendez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Peralta closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mendez did well to prevent Peralta getting side control.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Rostom - just one landing.
Rostom is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ward.
Ward shoots in but no luck this time.
Rostom throws a hook to the side of Ward's head but Ward sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ward tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Rostom lands a head kick. Ward smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
A shot to the body from Rostom misses

and Ward counters with a takedown into side control.
Ward remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rostom takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ward creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rostom sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Rostom is trying to buck Ward off.

Ward is working to tighten his grip on Rostom's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Rostom has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ward is really squeezing tight and eventually Rostom passes out! Ward breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Haggus drops back looking for a leg! Macrae is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Macrae manages to kick Haggus off! Haggus jumps back into Macrae's guard.
