Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shovel Knight (ranked 2690 p4p, 133 weight class) and Santana Blaze (ranked 3211 p4p, 0 weight class). Knight comes to the cage accompanied by X Gon' Give It To Ya. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blaze is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Blaze throws an overhand right that lands on Knight's shoulder, as Knight tries to avoid the shot.
Knight closes this distance looking for a takedown but Blaze circles away.

Blaze looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Knight is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Blaze.

Blaze chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Knight can pounce on him.

Knight goes for a double leg but Blaze avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Blaze continues to drive forward.

Knight looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Blaze is fending him off so far but Knight persists. Nope, Blaze circles away and we're back to standing.

That was a close round but I would say that Shovel Knight will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Blaze shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Knight eats them both and turns towards Blaze to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Knight seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Blaze does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Blaze really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
