Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hewitt Drawson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Pereira!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Drawson gets caught flat footed, as Pereira shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Drawson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Drawson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Pereira.
Pereira pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drawson is keeping the position for now.
Drawson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Drawson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pereira on the ground.

Drawson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Pereira escapes and throws Drawson's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pereira is trying to get an arm triangle but Drawson is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pereira tries to score with some ground and pound. Drawson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pereira stands up and beckons Drawson to his feet.

Pereira closes the distance and pushes Drawson back into the cage.
Drawson stalling in the clinch but Pereira improves position.

Pereira has Drawson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pereira pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Drawson tumbling to the mat - Pereira dives into Drawson's guard.
Drawson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Pereira dives into side control.

Drawson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pereira wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pereira just content to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Drawson is trying to improve his position.
Pereira fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Drawson is letting Pereira control him for a moment.
It looks like Pereira might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Drawson is looking to regain half guard here but Pereira keeps moving and retains side control.

Pereira thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pereira sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Drawson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Pereira happy to just control the position for now.
Drawson trying his best to control but Pereira has mounted him.
Pereira prevents Drawson from getting the reversal.
Drawson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Pereira.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pereira manages to capitalize on a mistake by Drawson to take his back!
Pereira somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Pereira biding his time, controlling Drawson.
Well, with Pereira on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Drawson is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pereira working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Drawson is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Pereira has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Drawson taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Pedro Pereira!
