Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bjorn Akerfeldt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Minitauro Shogun!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akerfeldt dives in and grabs Shogun's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shogun pushes down on Akerfeldt's head and hops out.
Akerfeldt misses the shot to the body.
Akerfeldt scores with a nice right hand.


It looks like Minitauro Shogun has been cut.
Horrible takedown attempt by Shogun or perhaps it was just good defense by Akerfeldt, which made it look bad.
Akerfeldt catches Shogun with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Akerfeldt takes the fight into the clinch.

Akerfeldt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Akerfeldt darts in looking for a takedown but Shogun gets double underhooks and turns Akerfeldt into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shogun tries to clinch but Akerfeldt moves out of range.

Shogun is looking for a takedown.
Bjorn Akerfeldt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Minitauro Shogun.

Shogun tries to pull guard but Akerfeldt holds him up against the cage and eventually Shogun drops back down to his feet.

Shogun manages to break the clinch.
Akerfeldt looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Shogun should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Shogun pulls Akerfeldt into guard.
Shogun is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Shogun tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Akerfeldt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shogun on the ground.
Shogun manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Akerfeldt manages to get himself to full guard.

Akerfeldt looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Akerfeldt wants to stand up but Shogun is controlling him.
Akerfeldt is adopting a defensive guard.
Akerfeldt controls Shogun momentarily but Shogun frees himself.
Shogun trying to control but Akerfeldt is working from the bottom.

Shogun stands up and waves to Akerfeldt to follow him.
Akerfeldt throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shogun.
Akerfeldt throws a series of punches but Shogun moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shogun looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shogun wants to clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Shogun. Those never looked like landing.
Akerfeldt throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Shogun gets tackled into the cage by Akerfeldt. Akerfeldt maintains the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shogun dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Akerfeldt has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Akerfeldt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Akerfeldt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shogun flicks out a counter leg kick but Akerfeldt steps away.

Shogun tries to keep at a distance but Akerfeldt has taken the fight into the clinch.
Shogun missing with knees to the body.
Shogun jumps guard but Akerfeldt turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shogun breaks from the clinch.

Akerfeldt rushes Shogun and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Akerfeldt is trying to break free.

Akerfeldt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Akerfeldt lands a left and a right that send Shogun crashing to the mat, dazed. Akerfeldt thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Akerfeldt steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Shogun is out on his feet! Akerfeldt sets himself and nearly takes Shogun's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Bjorn Akerfeldt!
A determined Bjorn Akerfeldt didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
