PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Moore (ranked 309 p4p, 44 weight class) and Xafan Kong (ranked 760 p4p, 110 weight class). Moore comes to the cage accompanied by Sad Man's Tongue by Volbeat. Kong has chosen Demon's Theme as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Moore!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xafan Kong!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong works the jab nicely.


It looks like Carl Moore has been cut.
Moore goes for a double leg but Kong avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kong continues to drive forward.
Kong checks a leg kick nicely.
A slow jab from Kong misses its intended target.
Moore jabs Kong to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Moore takes the fight into the clinch.
Kong tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Moore's elbow.
Moore is working Kong over against the cage.
Kong managing to block the knees to the body from Moore.
A short body shot lands from Kong as the two fighters clinch.
A shot in the inside from Kong.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kong goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Moore turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Kong sneaks out the side door and pushes Moore away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kong throws a hook to the side of Moore's head but Moore sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Good exchange - Moore coming out on top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moore throws a looping overhand right but Kong ducks down to avoid it.
Moore has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Moore scores with a jab to the head.
Kong throws a leg kick

and Moore counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kong controls Moore momentarily but Moore frees himself.
Kong has Moore pulled in close to control his posture.
Kong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kong keeping moving, preventing Moore from controlling successfully.
Moore trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Moore is working hard here to advance position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kong works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kong avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kong looking to control.
Moore pushes down on Kong's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ground and pound from Moore.
Kong is pressing down on Moore's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Moore sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kong's guard.
Moore sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kong defending well though.
Kong wants to control but Moore is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Kong wants to improve his position but Moore is controlling well.
Moore uses his free foot to push down on Kong's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kong.
Moore with the ground and pound from mount.
Kong is looking to improve his position but Moore isn't that keen on the idea.
Kong keeps trying to improve his position.
Moore connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Kong is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moore unloading with bombs!
Moore lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kong hang on?
Moore lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Moore putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Moore unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Kong wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Moore celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

An out of breath Carl Moore thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
