PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Gaizka Elizondo (ranked 6423 p4p, 509 weight class) and Berto Kin (ranked 20863 p4p, 578 weight class). Elizondo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Peewee Longway & Money Man - Ooowwweee. Berto Kin has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gaizka Elizondo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Berto Kin!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kin looks to land a combination but Elizondo avoids it well.
Elizondo is looking to land body kicks.
Kin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Elizondo does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Kin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A punch combination from Kin misses.
Kin misses with a few strikes there.
Kin misses with a few strikes there.
Kin tries to bum rush Elizondo with a series of wild strikes but Elizondo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Elizondo to counter with a crisp jab.
Elizondo swings for the body but Kin moves out of range.
A combination from Kin does no damage.
Kin walks forward, straight into a front kick from Elizondo.
Kin looks winded!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Elizondo finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
No joy there for Kin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Elizondo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kin was well out of range. Poor timing from Elizondo.
Elizondo cracks Kin with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Kin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Elizondo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Elizondo is looking to slow Kin down with leg kicks.
Elizondo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A punch combination from Kin misses.
Elizondo cracks Kin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


Kin is rocked!
Kin misses with a wild combination.
Elizondo is looking for a counter combo.
Kin is still on wobbly legs! Can Elizondo finish him?

Elizondo lands a head kick that bluckles Kin and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Elizondo no doubt looking to push for a finish!

and Elizondo counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Elizondo connects with an inside leg kick.
Kin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Elizondo appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Kin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Elizondo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

and Elizondo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Kin seems to have recovered his senses.

Elizondo keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Elizondo counters with a perfect left hook, dropping Kin to the canvas. He tries to get back up quickly but his equilibrium is all over the place! He's up... he's back down again! There's no need for a count as the referee calls off the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Gaizka Elizondo!
