Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pappa Ginney (ranked 2575 p4p, 292 weight class) and Jack Clinton (ranked 2315 p4p, 269 weight class). Pappa Ginney had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pappa Ginney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Clinton!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Ginney.
Ginney scores with the left hand. Clinton knows he should have avoided that one.
Clinton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ginney but Ginney pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ginney is looking to counter punch.
Clinton shoots and misses
and Ginney counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Pappa Ginney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Clinton.

Clinton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ginney sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Ginney makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Clinton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ginney manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My spies in Catch Wrestling L.A. inform me that Clinton has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Ginney is trying to control the position but Clinton postures up.
Clinton looking to sit in guard and control but Ginney gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Clinton has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Clinton wants to sweep here but Ginney controlling him for the moment.
Ginney throwing strikes but missing.

Clinton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ginney defends well.
Clinton pulls Ginney in close to prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ginney trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clinton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Clinton has Ginney pulled in close to control his posture.
Ginney has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ginney in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Clinton seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Clinton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ginney is trying to keep Clinton in close.
Clinton passes Ginney's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Clinton tries to pass to full mount but Ginney defends it.
Clinton is keen to just control but Ginney is a slippery customer.

Clinton moves nicely into side control.
Ginney is not content to let Clinton control the position.
Clinton looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Ginney is avoiding damage well.
Ginney manages to work his way to half guard, despite Clinton's best efforts.
Clinton trying to control the action but Ginney is working from the bottom.
Clinton looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Clinton is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Clinton tries to free his leg and advance position but Ginney is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pappa Ginney dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ginney displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Clinton.
Clinton dives in for a single leg takedown but Ginney sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
As Clinton backs away, Ginney returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Ginney scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Clinton tries to clinch up.
Clinton fails with the takedown
and Ginney counters with a straight right hand.
Pappa Ginney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Clinton.
Clinton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ginney as he jumps to the side.
Ginney lands with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clinton takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Clinton tries to clinch
and Ginney counters with a slapping leg kick.
Clinton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ginney is fending him off so far but Clinton persists. Nope, Ginney circles away and we're back to standing.
Clinton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ginney's waist but Ginney gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Clinton off to one side.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ginney.

Clinton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ginney!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ginney is looking to regain half guard here but Clinton keeps moving and retains side control.
Jack Clinton has got the better of the ground game so far.
Clinton is breathing heavily.
Clinton staying calm.
Clinton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ginney keeps working.

Clinton is working to tighten his grip on Ginney's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Ginney has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Clinton is really squeezing tight and eventually Ginney passes out! Clinton breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jack Clinton!
