PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Prohor Georgiev (ranked 438 p4p, 2025 weight class) and Roger Andermatt (ranked 57 p4p, 227 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Georgiev might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Oxxxymiron - City under the sole. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Georgiev misses its intended target.
Georgiev swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nice defenses there by Andermatt.
Andermatt waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Georgiev.
Georgiev fires out a quick counter leg kick but Andermatt just manages to avoid it.
Georgiev throws a jab but it's blocked by Andermatt.
Georgiev dodges the punch combination from Andermatt.
Georgiev throws a looping overhand right but Andermatt ducks down to avoid it.
Georgiev swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Andermatt.
Georgiev lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Georgiev ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Andermatt blocks the body kick.

Georgiev missing with a left hand there. Andermatt was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Andermatt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Georgiev counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Georgiev prevents Andermatt from getting back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Georgiev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Andermatt seems keen to control Georgiev's posture.
Georgiev is looking to work some ground and pound but Andermatt has wrist control.
Andermatt told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Andermatt is looking to stand up but Georgiev isn't so interested in that idea.
Georgiev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Georgiev passes Andermatt's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Andermatt holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Georgiev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Andermatt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Georgiev.

Andermatt makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Andermatt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Georgiev lets loose with a powerful body kick. Andermatt will feel that in the morning.
Andermatt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Georgiev finds it's way round the side to connect with Andermatt's head.
Andermatt lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Georgiev manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Andermatt on his heels. He'll look to pass Andermatt's guard now, I'm sure.

Andermatt is trying to push Georgiev off with his feet but Georgiev grabs hold of one of the legs and drops back looking for a submission! He's cranking on one of Andermatt's ankles and Andermatt is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaall over!
