Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Stone (ranked 5205 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Bormier (ranked 4946 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathaniel Bormier!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bormier feints the counter takedown.
Bormier moves out of range of the leg kick from Stone.

Bormier is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stone's half guard.
Bormier is looking to advance position but Stone won't allow it.
Stone is trying to maintain the position but Bormier is very close to passing his half guard.
Stone moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Bormier drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Stone dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stone stands and throws Bormier's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bormier tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stone wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone tries to stand but Bormier is controlling his head.
Stone is looking to take a break and control but Bormier is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bormier looks to move to half guard but instead Stone has passed into mount! Damn!
Stone landing strikes from the mount and Bormier is in trouble!
Stone manages to capitalize on a mistake by Bormier to take his back!
Stone is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Stone controlling well, preventing Bormier from escaping the position.
Bormier is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Stone.
Bormier tries to escape but Stone has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Bormier covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Bormier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
I really don't envy Bormier right now.

Stone is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bormier is defending well though. Stone let's go of the attempt for now.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Stone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kirk Stone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bormier is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Stone is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
