The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spencer feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cubbedge s jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Spencer tries to bum rush Cubbedge with a series of wild strikes but Cubbedge uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sam Spencer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spencer gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Cubbedge decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Spencer's guard.

Spencer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cubbedge . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cubbedge postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Spencer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cubbedge , into his guard.

Cubbedge looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spencer is one step ahead there.
We've been hearing good reports from Cubbedge 's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Spencer wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Cubbedge 's closed guard. He's half up but Cubbedge has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Cubbedge pivots and extends the arm, Spencer falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Cubbedge ! Well done that man!
