De Lima's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Linkin Park - Numb. The key to victory for Rodrigo De Lima has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo De Lima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duke Goodwin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Lima throws a hook to the side of Goodwin's head but Goodwin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Goodwin shoots and misses
and De Lima counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nice takedown defense from De Lima. No joy for Goodwin on that attempt.
Goodwin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Goodwin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
De Lima misses with the combination.
Goodwin throws out a counter right but De Lima avoids it with no problem.
Goodwin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from De Lima.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodwin misses with an uppercut
and De Lima counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
De Lima thows a left - swing and a miss!

Goodwin gets a double leg takedown into De Lima's guard.

De Lima looking to control.
Goodwin wants to control from the top but De Lima keeps moving.
De Lima has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
De Lima is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
De Lima utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

De Lima has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Goodwin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Goodwin lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

De Lima throws his legs up looking for a submission but Goodwin uses it to pass to side control.
Goodwin lands a few punches from side control.
Goodwin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
De Lima regains half guard.
Goodwin trying to control from half guard but De Lima is working away.
De Lima is looking to control Goodwin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can De Lima avoid being mounted?
De Lima trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
We've been hearing good reports from De Lima's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Goodwin wants to control the pace but De Lima is squirming around nicely.

Poor strikes thrown by Goodwin there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
De Lima slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Goodwin with the ground and pound but De Lima uses the opportunity to regain guard.
De Lima is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

De Lima is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Goodwin has his hands clasped together but De Lima extends and breaks Goodwin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by De Lima.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rodrigo De Lima!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Rodrigo De Lima waved his t-shirt featuring Urban Fighter's logo in front of the cameras.
