The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy is looking to chop away at Applegate's legs.
Murphy looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Applegate throws a hook to the side of Murphy's head but Murphy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Murphy throws out a loose jab but Applegate uses good head movement to avoid it.
Abner Applegate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Murphy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Murphy swats away the attempt to clinch by Applegate.
Applegate ducks under a wild hook from Murphy.
Murphy throws a lazy right hand but Applegate sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

It seemed like Murphy was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Applegate moves in looking to clinch but Murphy pushes him off.
