Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Beecher (ranked 986 p4p, 40 weight class) and Jimmy Nickels (ranked 1274 p4p, 34 weight class). Jimmy Nickels has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Paul Beecher's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Beecher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Nickels!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Nickels misses its intended target.
Beecher checks a leg kick nicely.
As Nickels backs away, Beecher returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Beecher seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Beecher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Beecher takes one on the button.
Nickels misses with a two punch combination.
Nice defenses there by Nickels.
Nickels misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Beecher.
Beecher bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Beecher tried to counter with a leg kick but Nickels avoided it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beecher digs a good body shot into Nickels's ribs.
Nickels slips under a jab.
Beecher throws a head kick but Nickels moves out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Beecher.
Beecher throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Beecher keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nickels moves to clinch but Beecher breaks away
and Beecher counters with a nice uppercut.
Nickels fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nickels misses with a body shot.
Beecher rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nickels moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Beecher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nickels manages to avoid it.
Nickels feints a counter leg kick.

Nickels clinches up with Beecher and pushes him back against the cage.

Nickels works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Beecher pulls Nickels in close to his closed guard and prevents Nickels from doing any damage or advancing position.
Beecher avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Beecher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nickels trying to control but Beecher is working from the bottom.
Nickels won't allow Beecher to sweep him here.
Nickels working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Nickels scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Beecher uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nickels.
Beecher lands a right hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nickels tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Beecher defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nickels.

Nickels works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Nickels misses with an uppercut.
Nickels throws a jab but it's blocked by Beecher.
A punch combination from Beecher misses.
Beecher does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Nickels ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Beecher moves away.
Beecher tries to clinch up
and Nickels cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jimmy Nickels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beecher throws a body kick that misses
and Nickels counters with a stiff right hand.
Beecher looks to land a combination but Nickels avoids it well.
Paul Beecher is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nickels comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Beecher attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Beecher fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beecher takes one on the chin but seems OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Beecher steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nickels.
Nickels keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Beecher throws a head kick but Nickels moves out of range.
Beecher throws a head kick that misses.
Nickels lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Nickels throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Beecher stumbling backwards into the cage! Beecher bounces back off the cage towards Nickels, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Nickels lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Nickels celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
