The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

McGuire lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McGuire tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

McGuire might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kong haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

McGuire throws a low kick, looking for Kong's leg but Kong calmly moves out of range.

McGuire pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kong attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
A nice side step and McGuire releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
McGuire has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Kong throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McGuire avoids the head kick by Kong.
McGuire swats away the attempt to clinch by Kong.
McGuire lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kong's sensitive parts.
McGuire looks to score with a jab to the body but Kong is just out of range.
Kevin McGuire seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kong fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McGuire.

McGuire lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

McGuire bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kong's head backwards.
McGuire has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

McGuire controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
McGuire is continuing to stall.
Kong not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kong looking to hit a scissor sweep but McGuire is one step ahead there.

McGuire pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kong is keeping the position for now.
Kong wants to get back to his feet but McGuire is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kong on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Kong pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kong dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on McGuire. That did some damage!

McGuire buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
