PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Naizen Kamenashi (ranked 2391 p4p, 318 weight class) and Benny Conan (ranked 3132 p4p, 414 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Naizen Kamenashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benny Conan!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamenashi checks a low kick from Conan.
Conan tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kamenashi seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Conan lands a lovely overhand right.
Conan swings for the body but Kamenashi moves out of range.
Conan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kamenashi tries to avoid it but Conan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kamenashi to the ground. Kamenashi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Conan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kamenashi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kamenashi pushes Conan off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
A jab from Conan misses.
Conan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kamenashi scores with a kick to the midsection.
Kamenashi thuds his right hand into Conan's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Conan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kamenashi as he avoids it easily.
Kamenashi is looking to counter with a body kick.
Naizen Kamenashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benny Conan.
Kamenashi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Conan blocks the body kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kamenashi.
Kamenashi misses the shot to the body.
Benny Conan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kamenashi misses with a body kick.
Conan moves away from the strike by Kamenashi.
Conan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kamenashi is out of range.
Kamenashi throws a head kick that misses.
A swing and a miss from Conan.
The fighters circling - Kamenashi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Conan jabs at Kamenashi's body.
Kamenashi fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Conan checks it well.

Kamenashi gets caught napping as Conan dives in and scores a takedown. Kamenashi manages to retain guard.
Kamenashi looking for a sweep. Not yet Kamenashi, not yet.

Conan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Conan just misses with a punch to the body.
Nice body punch from Conan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Conan fails with a takedown attempt.
Kamenashi stuffs the takedown.
Kamenashi scores with a push kick.
Conan shoots for a double leg takedown but Kamenashi sprawls well. He's pushed Conan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Conan crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kamenashi - the referee stops the clock and Conan gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kamenashi. Conan manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Conan looks winded!
Conan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kamenashi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Conan somewhat.
Kamenashi tries to counter by clinching up but Conan breaks away and moves out of range.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kamenashi. Conan shrugs it off though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kamenashi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Conan at a distance.
Conan avoids the body shot from Kamenashi.
A thudding body kick lands there by Kamenashi!
Naizen Kamenashi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kamenashi thuds his shin into the meat of Conan's side.
Kamenashi lands with a kick to the ribs.
Kamenashi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Conan's head.
Kamenashi tries a head kick but it misses.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kamenashi.
Kamenashi attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Conan throws a series of punches but Kamenashi avoids them all with ease.
Kamenashi is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Conan.
Conan checks a low kick from Kamenashi.
Despite the aggression on Conan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Conan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kamenashi counters with a big head kick but Conan shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kamenashi lands a big head kick that sends Conan tumbling to the mat! Kamenashi takes a step backwards and waves Conan back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Conan is rocked!
Conan shoots in for a takedown but Kamenashi shows good takedown defense.
Conan is still on wobbly legs! Can Kamenashi finish him?
Kamenashi scoring well with a low kick there.
Conan seems to have recovered his senses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kamenashi throws a looping overhand right but Conan ducks down to avoid it.
Conan has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Kamenashi.
Kamenashi takes one to the chin there.
Kamenashi feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Conan's calf.
Conan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kamenashi feints and then cracks Conan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Conan down.
Kamenashi stuffs the takedown attempt from Conan. Conan gets slowly back to his feet.
Kamenashi tries to counter by clinching up but Conan breaks away and moves out of range.

Kamenashi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Conan to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Kamenashi uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Conan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kamenashi.
An inside leg kick from Kamenashi misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Naizen Kamenashi dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Crunch! Kamenashi slams his shin into Conan's torso.
Kamenashi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kamenashi looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Conan throws a counter combo.
Kamenashi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Conan can do to turn this around?
Kamenashi lands a head kick. Conan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kamenashi throws a half hearted mid kick.
Conan lands with a nice body punch.
Conan scores with a jab to the body.
Conan throws a nice inside leg kick.
Conan shoots in for a takedown but Kamenashi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Conan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Conan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kamenashi tries to avoid it but Conan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kamenashi to the ground. Kamenashi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Conan swinging wildly here.
Conan is breathing heavily.
Kamenashi lands with an overhand left.
Conan dives in for a single leg takedown but Kamenashi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kamenashi wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Naizen Kamenashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benny Conan.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Conan fails with the takedown
and Kamenashi counters with a low kick, right behind Conan 's knee.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Conan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Kamenashi. That one must have hurt.

Kamenashi lands a big head kick that sends Conan tumbling to the mat! Kamenashi takes a step backwards and waves Conan back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Kamenashi scores with a push kick.
Kamenashi looks to land a body kick but Conan moved away.
A head kick by Kamenashi - that's a beauty! Conan is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Kamenashi can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Naizen Kamenashi!
Naizen Kamenashi very nearly forgot to thank Kore Fight Nutrition amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
