Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Cornell!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Somsak Ngo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngo misses with an uppercut
and Cornell counters with a stiff right hand.
Cornell slips a straight right by Ngo.
Ngo wants to slow Cornell down by chopping away at his legs.
Ngo swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ngo displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Ngo throws out a leg kick but Cornell moves out of range and Ngo only half commits.
A solid body kick from Cornell.
Ngo drops his hands momentarily and Cornell takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Cornell avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ngo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cornell.
Ngo throws a low kick but Cornell moves out of range easily.
Ngo throws out a loose jab but Cornell uses good head movement to avoid it.
A clash of legs there as Cornell blocks the low kick.
Cornell is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Cornell scores with a push kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cornell turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ngo on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Ngo takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Cornell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cornell backing away here, and Ngo unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Cornell steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ngo.
Ngo misses with a body kick.
Cornell swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ngo throws a chopping leg kick but Cornell manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Ngo throws the kick towards the body but Cornell avoids it.
Cornell seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Cornell misses with a body kick.

Cornell closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends Ngo crashing to the mat! Ngo uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!
A low kick from Ngo misses
and Cornell counters with an outside leg kick.

Cornell catches his opponent with a big hook that sends him to the canvas! Ngo stumbles back to his feet but will the referee allow it to continue? Ngo walks forwards and this one will be allowed to continue! Come on!


Ngo is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ngo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cornell.
Ngo is still on wobbly legs! Can Cornell finish him?
Ngo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ngo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ngo seems to have recovered his senses.
Cornell ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Ngo looks winded!
Cornell throws a front kick that sends Ngo stumbling back into the ropes.

Cornell cracks Ngo with a left hand that drops him to the canvas, up against the ropes! Can Ngo get back up in time? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... he's on one knee... 8, 9... he's up! 'Walk towards me' says the referee. Ngo looks steady enough to continue so we're going to continue!

Cornell cracks Ngo with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Ngo is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Ngo is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!
Ngo misses with a leg kick
and Cornell counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tony Cornell!
Tony Cornell retains his heavyweight title!
After winning the bout, Tony Cornell thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
