PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Brian Baker (ranked 5808 p4p, 480 weight class) and Murat Idrisov Ii (ranked 25019 p4p, 601 weight class). Idrisov Ii has chosen Ruslana - Wild Dances as his entrance music. Murat Idrisov Ii told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 12 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brian Baker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Murat Idrisov Ii!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Idrisov Ii misses with a shot to the body
and Baker counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Idrisov Ii misses with a left hand
and Baker counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Idrisov Ii throws a right and a left that both miss.
Baker lands a head kick that bluckles Idrisov Ii and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Baker no doubt looking to push for a finish!
Idrisov Ii is rocked!
It looks like Murat Idrisov Ii has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Idrisov Ii throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Baker stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Idrisov Ii is still on wobbly legs! Can Baker finish him?
Idrisov Ii throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Baker.
Baker connects with a crushing straight, right on the bridge of Idrisov Ii's nose, sending him crumpling to the mat! That's really rocked Idrisov Ii - is he going to beat the count??? 4,5,6,7,8,9.....10 - he's not made it - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Brian Baker!
