Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julio Falcon (ranked 1159 p4p, 1565 weight class) and Matt Curtis (ranked 49 p4p, 69 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Julio Falcon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Curtis!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Falcon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Curtis.
Falcon throwing a counter right hand but Curtis manages to avoid it.
Curtis takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Falcon darts in and clinches Curtis up against the cage.
Curtis with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Curtis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Curtis is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Falcon with a body shot.

and Curtis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A little feinted left hand from Falcon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Curtis throws out a counter right but Falcon avoids it with no problem.

Falcon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Curtis can do anything to dispel that myth.

Falcon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Curtis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Falcon tries to free his leg and advance position but Curtis is retaining full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Falcon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Falcon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Curtis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Falcon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Curtis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Falcon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Falcon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Curtis for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Curtis counters with a nice low kick that buckles Falcon's knee momentarily.

Curtis only half commits to the counter leg kick.

and Curtis makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Falcon really felt that one!
Falcon wants to slow Curtis down by chopping away at his legs.
Curtis digs a good body shot into Falcon's ribs.
Curtis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Curtis follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Falcon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It looks like Julio Falcon has been cut.
Curtis moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Falcon misses with a hook.
Curtis was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

and Curtis counters with an outside leg kick.

Falcon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Curtis, pushing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Julio Falcon will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Falcon shoots in looking for a takedown but Curtis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Falcon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Curtis tries a quick counter leg kick but Falcon is wise to it.
Curtis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Some bone on bone action there as Falcon checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Curtis blocks a head kick by Falcon.
Curtis tries to clinch but Falcon moves out of range.
Curtis slips under a jab.
A bone on bone clash there as Curtis blocks the leg kick.
Curtis now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Matt Curtis seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Curtis counters with a nice right hand that sends Falcon toppling to the canvas! Falcon scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Curtis finish him?!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Curtis is trying to control the position but Falcon postures up.
Falcon advances to half guard.
Falcon trying to control from half guard but Curtis is working away.
Falcon thows a huge punch but Curtis dodges it nicely.
Curtis wants to control but Falcon is keeping busy.
Falcon uses his free foot to push down on Curtis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Curtis.
BOOM! Falcon connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Curtis is trying to escape the mount.
Falcon scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Falcon thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Falcon lands a big shot there that rocks Curtis but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Falcon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Falcon sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Poor strikes thrown by Falcon there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Falcon throws a push kick but Curtis slaps the foot to one side.

Falcon rushes Curtis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Curtis misses with a hook from the clinch.
A shot in the inside from Curtis.
Falcon misses with a body punch.
Curtis cracks Falcon with a nice body shot.

Curtis drops Falcon with a big knee straight up the middle! Falcon is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Falcon is rocked!
Falcon is holding his hands too far apart here. Curtis throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Falcon is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Matt Curtis!
During a confident post fight interview, Matt Curtis thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
