Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Goldberg (ranked 1258 p4p, 982 weight class) and Patrick Bower (ranked 175 p4p, 142 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Goldberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patrick Bower!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.

Goldberg looking to score a takedown here. Bower is defending well but Goldberg drives through and ends up in Bower's guard.
Goldberg scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Goldberg is looking to work some ground and pound but Bower has wrist control.
Goldberg postures up and lands a big shot to Bower's brow.
Goldberg throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Goldberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bower swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bower controls Goldberg momentarily but Goldberg frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goldberg won't allow Bower to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goldberg has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Goldberg postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bower has momentary wrist control but Goldberg slips an elbow through the middle.

Goldberg postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bower is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Goldberg, into his guard.


Goldberg looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bower trying to control but Goldberg is working from the bottom.
Bower looking to sit in guard and control but Goldberg gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Goldberg might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Goldberg is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bower can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bower tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bower really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goldberg. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bower has hold of Goldberg's hands but Goldberg slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Bower is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Goldberg scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Goldberg thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bower's head.
Bower is staying active underneath Goldberg, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Goldberg lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Goldberg seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Bower is rocked!
Goldberg lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Bower! More strikes land and this one is all over! Goldberg jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Goldberg!
An out of breath John Goldberg thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
