Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Volkov comes to the ring accompanied by The Trooper by Iron Maiden. Gomez has chosen Samba De Janeiro as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gomez.
Gomez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gomez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A swing and a miss from Volkov.
Gomez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gomez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Volkov on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Gomez shoots in and drives through. Volkov sprawls well.
Oooh a lovely combination from Volkov sends Gomez down but not out. Volkov dives into side control looking to finish.
Gomez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Volkov just content to control the position.
Gomez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Volkov not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gomez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Volkov is working away from the top position though.
Gomez is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Volkov is staying active.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gomez is trying to control but can't.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gomez moves out of range of the body kick from Volkov.
Gomez feints and then cracks Volkov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Volkov down.
Gomez fails to land the takedown.

Volkov instigates a clinch.
Gomez tries to pull guard but Volkov holds him up against the ropes and eventually Gomez drops back down to his feet.
Vincent Volkov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Gomez.

Volkov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Volkov throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Gomez tumbling to the canvas!

It looks like Andre Gomez has been cut.

Gomez is trying to hold Volkov in close to prevent damage but Volkov has managed to pass into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gomez is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Volkov pulls his head out easily.

Gomez misses with a takedown attempt - Volkov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Volkov looks for the body kick but Gomez saw that one coming.
Volkov cracks Gomez with a big right hand and Gomez goes down!

Volkov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gomez seems to have recovered his senses.
Volkov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gomez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Volkov has picked Gomez up and slammed him! Gomez can't keep hold of the triangle and Volkov manages to pass to side control!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Volkov tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gomez's legs.

Volkov throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Gomez tumbling to the canvas!

Gomez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Volkov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Volkov is looking to stand up but Gomez won't let him.

Volkov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gomez, up you get!
Gomez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Volkov digs a good hook to Gomez's body.
Gomez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Volkov.
Volkov darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Volkov steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Gomez is out on his feet! Volkov sets himself and nearly takes Gomez's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
