Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Neil (ranked 975 p4p, 860 weight class) and Chief Zapata (ranked 152 p4p, 136 weight class). Neil kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Linkin Park - In the end. Luke Neil has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Zapata!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.

Zapata fails with the takedown

and Neil counters with a takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Zapata's face as Neil controls the position.
Sloppy strikes there by Neil.

Neil has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Zapata felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Zapata wants to get back to his feet.

Neil tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Neil has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neil scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Zapata to see if he's OK.
The ground and pound from Neil seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zapata can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neil throws some wild stikes that Zapata manages to avoid easily.
Neil lands a big elbow.
Neil thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Neil looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Neil tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Neil is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Zapata is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Zapata flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Neil anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Zapata and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Neil slips an arm under Zapata chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Neil has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Neil is squeezing on Zapata like an anaconda would it's prey. Zapata fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Luke Neil!
