Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Beardsley (ranked 4336 p4p, 6049 weight class) and David Kelly (ranked 166 p4p, 206 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.

Beardsley swings for the body but Kelly moves out of range.
Kelly looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kelly lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like Peter Beardsley has been cut.

Beardsley looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A left lands for Beardsley.

A lazy left from Kelly finds it's target.
Kelly throws a jab when Beardsley was well out of range.

Kelly fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Beardsley manages to avoid it.

Kelly takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Beardsley throws a body shot but no joy.

Beardsley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Beardsley paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Kelly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Beardsley throws a hook but Kelly avoids it easily.
Kelly is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Beardsley with a body shot.
Beardsley throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kelly swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kelly tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Beardsley paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Beardsley swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kelly.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kelly looks to land a combination but Beardsley avoids it well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Beardsley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kelly moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Beardsley connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kelly. Kelly circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Beardsley throws a lazy right hand but Kelly sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kelly avoids a punch combination nicely.
Beardsley scores with a hook to the body. Kelly takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Kelly closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Beardsley counters with a straight right hand.

Beardsley swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A swing and a miss from Beardsley.
A jab lands there for Beardsley.

Kelly is rocked!
Kelly throws a poor cross that misses
and Beardsley counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Kelly badly! Beardsley follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Kelly out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Beardsley finished him against the ropes.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Peter Beardsley!
After the fight, Peter Beardsley was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
