The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Red has taken the fight to the clinch.
Red has Alvarez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Red pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Alvarez tumbling to the mat - Red dives into Alvarez's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Alvarez (0) vs (2) Red
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Red drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alvarez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alvarez looks to have wriggled free... Red tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Alvarez presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Alvarez (6) vs (2) Red
Red is desperately trying to improve his position but Alvarez has a good base and remains in mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Red wants to hold on but Alvarez pushes him away.

Red reaches up to try and pull Alvarez in and control his posture, but Alvarez latches on to an arm and pivots quickly for an armbar! Red taps out and this one is all over!

After the fight, Tyler Alvarez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
