Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mikey Day (ranked 1757 p4p, 1719 weight class) and Sheev Palpatine (ranked 198 p4p, 206 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Palpatine's choice of entrance music: I am the Senate. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

A looping hook to the body misses from Day. Palpatine does a little dance to reset his feet.
Palpatine lands an overhand right.
Day is looking to score with low kicks.
Mikey Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Day moves into range and clinches up with Palpatine.
Day has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Palpatine is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Palpatine fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Day tries to pull guard but Palpatine won't allow it.

Day gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Day tries to pass the half guard into mount. Palpatine knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Day is keen to just control but Palpatine is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Day seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Palpatine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Day is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Palpatine defends it well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Day shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Palpatine sprawls well. Palpatine wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Day gets slowly back to his feet.

Day closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Day takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Palpatine counters with a nice low kick that buckles Day's knee momentarily.

Day shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Palpatine napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Palpatine is not content to let Day control the position.
Day is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Palpatine's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sheev Palpatine will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The fight stays on the outside here - Day looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Day throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Palpatine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Palpatine wants it to stay on the feet.

Palpatine fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Day has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Palpatine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Palpatine throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Palpatine lands with a straight right. Day didn't see that one coming.

Day is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Day keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Day shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Palpatine defends it nicely.

Palpatine ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Day clinches up with Palpatine and pushes him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Palpatine is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Palpatine manages to break the clinch.
Palpatine thows a body kick. Day tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Day swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Palpatine counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Palpatine bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Day is rocked!
Palpatine lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Oh Day is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Palpatine steps in with a hook that catches Day right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Palpatine follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Day looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sheev Palpatine!
Sheev Palpatine gave a mention to Distinct Label in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
