Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tom Thomas (ranked 1228 p4p, 2327 weight class) and Mikey Day (ranked 144 p4p, 251 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

I was talking to Thomas's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Day jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thomas walks away with a smile on his face. Day gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Day walks straight into a right hand from Thomas - that's dropped him! Thomas jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Day from any more punishment! Day complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
