Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Miller (ranked 1850 p4p, 1952 weight class) and Jimmy Nickels (ranked 77 p4p, 32 weight class). Miller comes to the cage accompanied by Not Falling. Jimmy Nickels looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Eddie Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Nickels!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nickels rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Miller counter with a right hand.
The fighters circling - Miller throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Miller darts in looking for a takedown but Nickels gets double underhooks and turns Miller into the cage.
Nickels misses with a hook
and Miller counters with a straight right hand.
Miller looks to land a right hand but Nickels moved out of range.
Miller darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Miller ducks under a wild hook from Nickels.
Miller takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Miller misses the body punch
and Nickels counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Miller moves into range and connects with a jab.
Miller throws a good cross that connects.
Nickels swings for the body but Miller moves out of range.
Nickels lands a high kick!

It looks like Eddie Miller has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Nickels tries to sprawl but Miller drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Miller is keen to just control but Nickels is a slippery customer.
Miller looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Miller content to control rather than advance.
Nickels is not content to let Miller control the position.

Nickels gets back to full guard.
Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but Nickels is retaining full guard.
Nickels is trying to control the position but Miller postures up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

and Miller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Miller looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Miller misses with a hook.
Nickels thumps Miller with a low kick.
Nickels scores with a hook to the body. Miller takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Miller jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Nickels has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Nickels slaps away a takedown attempt from Miller, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nickels throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nickels stuffs the takedown.
Nickels appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Nickels throws a shot from downtown. Miller moves away and avoids it.

Miller comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nickels sprawls well. Nickels wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Miller gets slowly back to his feet.

and Miller counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Miller changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Miller is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nickels can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nickels is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nickels might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Miller haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nickels controls Miller momentarily but Miller frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Nickels throws a wild body kick that Miller sees coming a mile off.
Nickels throws a hook but Miller avoids it easily.
Nickels tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nickels bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Miller connects with a crisp jab.
Nickels moves away from the strike by Miller.
Nickels throws a body shot but no joy.

and Nickels connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Miller avoids the head kick by Nickels.

Nickels is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Miller misses with an uppercut. Nickels saw that one coming.
Nickels looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Nickels misses with a double jab

and Miller counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nickels swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Miller controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Miller wants to pass the guard but Nickels is keeping the position.
Miller stands and throws Nickels's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Miller is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Nickels's shoulder. That is not cool.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nickels is not content to let Miller control the position.
Miller tries to advance position but instead Nickels slips a leg back in to half guard.
Miller perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nickels is holding on to half guard well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Miller scores with a jab to the head.
Miller throws a hook to the side of Nickels's head but Nickels sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A little jabbing left from Nickels on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Miller fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Nickels misses with a body punch
and Miller counters with a nice uppercut.
Miller loads up on a big right hand but Nickels slips the punch.
Miller lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Nickels tries to close the distance and clinch but Miller swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nickels doesn't manage to clinch there - Miller circles away.
Nickels misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nickels tries to avoid it but Miller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nickels to the ground. Nickels escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nickels moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

and Nickels counters with a nice body shot.
Nickels fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Miller manages to avoid it.

Nickels steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Miller.

A looping hook to the body misses from Nickels. Miller does a little dance to reset his feet.
Miller is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Nickels misses with an uppercut. Miller saw that one coming.
Miller cracks Nickels with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Miller lands a right hook to the body.
Miller doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nickels cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nickels closes the distance looking to clinch
and Miller counters with a stiff right hand.
Nickels ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Miller moves away.
Nickels slips under a jab.
Miller shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Nickels connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eddie Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Miller scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Miller is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nickels doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Miller.

Miller is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eddie Miller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Miller tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Miller tries for a kimura but Nickels is defending well.
Eddie Miller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Miller is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Nickels's shoulder. That is not cool.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Miller's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Miller seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nickels for as long as he can get away with.
Nickels can't do much from the bottom here.
Jimmy Nickels has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Miller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
