Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Cruz (ranked 2811 p4p, 5465 weight class) and Jeff Hecker Jr (ranked 292 p4p, 437 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Cruz throws an overhand right that lands on Hecker Jr's shoulder, as Hecker Jr tries to avoid the shot.
Hecker Jr now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Cruz throws the left hand but Hecker Jr avoids the punch easily.
Cruz fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Cruz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hecker Jr.
Cruz sets himself, and Hecker Jr steps forward looking for the clinch! Cruz avoids it this time.
Hecker Jr bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Hecker Jr uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cruz.

We've been told by Cruz's head coaches at Brooklyn MMA & Fitness that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hecker Jr uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cruz.

enabling Hecker Jr to counter with a crisp jab.
Hecker Jr tries to clinch up but Cruz circles away and keeps his distance.
It looked like Cruz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Hecker Jr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hecker Jr moves in looking to clinch but Cruz pushes him off.
Hecker Jr throws a head kick but Cruz moves out of range.
Cruz was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Hecker Jr tries to clinch but Cruz is having none of it.
Hecker Jr uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cruz.
Hecker Jr tries to close the distance and clinch but Cruz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A left lands for Cruz.

Hecker Jr is rocked!
Cruz ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Hecker Jr's jaw. Hecker Jr's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Cruz does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pablo Cruz!
Pablo Cruz really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Brooklyn Apothecary logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
