PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Martin Eugen (ranked 2920 p4p, 1909 weight class) and Chief Slayer (ranked 343 p4p, 238 weight class). Eugen comes to the cage accompanied by Kickboxer - Advanced Training. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Martin Eugen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Slayer!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eugen slips a straight right by Slayer.
Eugen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Slayer takes a swing at Eugen's ribcage but misses.
Eugen ducks under a wild hook from Slayer.
Eugen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Eugen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Eugen closes the distance and pushes Slayer back into the cage.
Eugen lands with a short shot to the head.
Slayer blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Slayer tries to pull guard but Eugen holds him up against the cage and eventually Slayer drops back down to his feet.
Slayer jumps guard but Eugen stands there with Slayer around his waist. Slayer gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Slayer is trying to drag Eugen to the mat but Eugen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Martin Eugen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chief Slayer.
Slayer tries to pull guard but Eugen forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Eugen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Slayer lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Eugen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Slayer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Slayer. Eugen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Slayer looks to throw the jab but Eugen is out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Eugen moves in looking to clinch but Slayer pushes him off.
Slayer thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Slayer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Eugen, pushing him back against the cage.
Eugen tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Slayer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Eugen pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Slayer is trying to pull guard but Eugen turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Eugen lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Eugen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Slayer.
Slayer is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Eugen to keep the fight standing.
Eugen pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Slayer is trying to trip Eugen. He has hold of a leg but Eugen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Slayer persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Slayer trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Eugen manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!


Slayer looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Eugen passes into side control.

Eugen decides to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Slayer connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Eugen wants to clinch.
Eugen walks into a left hand.
Eugen moves out of range as Slayer strikes.
Slayer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Eugen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Slayer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Eugen closes the distance and pushes Slayer back into the cage.

Slayer gets control of Eugen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Slayer will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Slayer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Eugen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Slayer lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slayer looking to pass the guard.
Slayer trying to control the position from guard on top but Eugen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slayer pushing down on Eugen's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Eugen trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Slayer manages to pass to mount!
Slayer pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Eugen defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Slayer.
Eugen trying desperately to get to his feet.
Slayer seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Eugen is holding on tight.
Slayer tries to take Eugen's back but instead Eugen uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Slayer trying to control the action but Eugen is working from the bottom.
Slayer might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Eugen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Slayer is looking for a kimura but Eugen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Slayer to get the leverage.
Eugen is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Chief Slayer will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Slayer swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Eugen counters with a stiff right hand.
Eugen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Slayer looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Eugen listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
BOOM! Eugen lands a beautiful left hook that drops Slayer. Slayer tries to recover but Eugen is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Slayer lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Martin Eugen!
Martin Eugen was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
