PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Yankowy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Jee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jee has chosen Get The Funk Out Of My Face as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Karl Jee is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karl Jee!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jee throws a sloppy head kick and Yankowy moves out of range easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Jee throws a head kick but Yankowy moves out of range.
Jee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Jee. No joy for Yankowy on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Jee, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jee throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yankowy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jee throws a series of punches but Yankowy avoids them all with ease.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jee decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Yankowy is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Jee pulls his head out easily.

Jee moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Yankowy.

Yankowy looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jee stalling.
Yankowy is looking for a sweep. Jee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Yankowy wants to control but Jee is keeping busy.

Yankowy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yankowy is trying to control but Jee manages to pass to mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yankowy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yankowy bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Jee not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Jee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Yankowy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

It looks like Jon Yankowy has been cut.
Jee throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Karl Jee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Yankowy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jee is fending him off so far but Yankowy persists. Nope, Jee circles away and we're back to standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yankowy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jee is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Yankowy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jee's back instead.

Karl Jee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
