PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Decker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raymond Branigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Branigan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Decker pinned against the cage. Decker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Branigan attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Branigan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A slow jab from Branigan misses its intended target.
Decker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Decker tries to clinch but Branigan is having none of it.
Decker avoids the body shot from Branigan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Decker throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Branigan blocks it with crossed arms.

Jake Decker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

I looks like Branigan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Branigan postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Decker to stand up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Branigan shoots in for a double leg but Decker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Branigan cracks Decker with a good jab.
Branigan throws a sloppy head kick and Decker moves out of range easily.
Decker pivots, looking for a leg kick but Branigan is out of range and Decker settles back down.
Branigan misses with a kick to the body
and Decker connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Branigan throws a right and a left that Decker avoids nicely.
Decker circles away from the clinch attempt.

Branigan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Decker is letting Branigan control him for a moment.

Branigan stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Branigan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Decker tries to avoid it but Branigan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Decker to the ground. Decker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Decker throws a nice inside leg kick.
Branigan misses the body punch
and Decker counters with a big head kick but Branigan shrugs it off.

Decker displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Branigan throws out the jab.
Branigan has a takedown stuffed.
Decker moves out of range as Branigan strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Raymond Branigan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Branigan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
