PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Buff Bagwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiyoshi Yamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yamada is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: B.o.B. - I Am The Champion. On his way into the cage it seems that Buff Bagwell has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Buff Bagwell seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamada misses with a body kick.
Bagwell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yamada was well out of range. Poor timing from Bagwell.

Yamada really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bagwell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bagwell wants to advance to full mount but Yamada doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bagwell remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Bagwell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Yamada is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Bagwell counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yamada won't be happy with that.
Bagwell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yamada keeps working.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bagwell not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Bagwell is taking a breather. Yamada says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well, if Bagwell is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bagwell is working for a kimura but Yamada is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Bagwell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Yamada's guard now.

Yamada working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bagwell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bagwell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bagwell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
