PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Action Crackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sly Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone has chosen Rambo as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Action Crackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sly Stone!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Crackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stone displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crackson throws out the jab.
Stone throws a head kick but Crackson moves out of range.
Crackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stone swivels and escapes.
Stone throws a looping overhand right but Crackson ducks down to avoid it.
Nice cross by Stone.
Crackson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stone sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Stone fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Action Crackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crackson ducks under a wild hook from Stone.
Crackson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Crackson throws out a loose jab but Stone uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stone ducks under a wild hook from Crackson.
Crackson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stone paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stone misses with a hook. Crackson ducked under it nicely.
A swing and a miss from Stone.
Crackson looks to land a left hand but Stone moved out of range nicely.

Crackson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Crackson showed some decent athleticism there.
Crackson wants to control but Stone is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone is trying to stand up here but Crackson is controlling him well.
Crackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Crackson is trying to control the action in half guard but Stone is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Stone kicks Crackson off and gets back to his feet.
Stone moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


It looks like Sly Stone has been cut.
Stone drops his hands momentarily and Crackson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Stone lands a nice shot that snaps Crackson's head back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A right-left combo lands from Crackson.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stone swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Crackson counters with a big uppercut that knocks Stone off his feet! Crackson dives into side control looking to finish!


Stone is rocked!
Crackson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Stone is still in real trouble! Can Crackson finish him?
Crackson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stone some visible discomfort.
Crackson scores with a couple of short elbows.
Stone seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crackson cracks Stone with a big elbow.

Crackson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Crackson throws an elbow but Stone slips to the side and avoids it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Crackson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Crackson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Stone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stone is not content to let Crackson control the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
An elbow from Crackson crashes against the mat.

Crackson tries for a kimura but Stone is defending well.
Crackson throwing shots but missing, from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Crackson working the body and head with strikes.

Crackson swings around for an armbar but Stone sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Crackson's guard.
Crackson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stone tries to stand but Crackson is controlling from the bottom.

Crackson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stone defends well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stone has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Crackson is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Action Crackson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sly Stone's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Stone looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Stone looks to throw the jab but Crackson is out of range.
Crackson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stone.
A swing and a miss from Crackson.
Crackson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Stone moves away from the strike by Crackson.
Crackson throws the kick towards the body but Stone avoids it.
Sly Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stone throws a lazy right hand but Crackson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stone misses with a head kick.
Crackson misses the jab.
Crackson lands a nice shot that snaps Stone's head back.


That has opened up Sly Stone's cut even more.

Crackson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Crackson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Stone looks calm but he's in trouble here. Crackson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Stone is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Crackson lets go of the hold and Stone can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Action Crackson!
Action Crackson retains his middleweight title!
