Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Griando Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Caschera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caschera has chosen Crimson King by Demons & Wizards limited edition as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Griando Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Caschera!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caschera dodges the punch combination from Kelly.

Kelly throws a nice head kick!


It looks like Max Caschera has been cut.

Caschera looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caschera is pushing down on Kelly's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kelly is fighting to maintain full guard but Caschera has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Caschera is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kelly is just riding it out for now. Caschera eventually gives up the hold.
Caschera throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Caschera wants to get up but he can't break Kelly's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Caschera is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kelly will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kelly scores with a hook to the body. Caschera takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Caschera gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kelly.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kelly drops Caschera with a left and a right! Oh, Caschera is hurt - Kelly dives into side control looking to finish!
Kelly remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Kelly knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Caschera on the ground.

Kelly tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kelly has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Caschera is looking to regain half guard here but Kelly keeps moving and retains side control.

Kelly stands up and beckons Caschera to his feet.

Caschera closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Caschera lands in his opponent's guard.
Kelly wants to stand but Caschera is controlling the position.

Caschera lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Caschera pushing down on Kelly's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Caschera passes the guard and advances to mount!

Caschera goes for an armbar but Kelly turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kelly.

Caschera is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kelly is aware though and is defending well.
Caschera keeping moving, preventing Kelly from controlling successfully.

Caschera will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Caschera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kelly doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kelly manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Caschera has his foot on Kelly's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kelly works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kelly bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Caschera's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kelly smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


That has opened up Max Caschera's cut even more.
Kelly will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Caschera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kelly has momentary wrist control but Caschera slips an elbow through the middle.
Caschera has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kelly scores with a sloppy right hand. Caschera should have avoided that one.


The cut above Max Caschera's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Griando Kelly is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kelly works the jab nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Caschera shoots for a double leg takedown but Kelly sprawls well. He's pushed Caschera's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Caschera takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Kelly throws a right hand that Caschera ducks under and follows up with a left that Caschera also avoids with ease.

Caschera creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Caschera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kelly, who protects the arm well.

Caschera is looking to take a break and control but Kelly is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Kelly's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Caschera creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kelly sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kelly looks to land a combination but Caschera avoids it well.
Kelly cracks Caschera with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Kelly is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Kelly buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kelly throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kelly throws a combination. Caschera tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


Max Caschera's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Caschera rushes Kelly and presses him up against the cage.
Kelly wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Caschera pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kelly swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Caschera.
Caschera slips a jab and a cross from Kelly.
Griando Kelly is winning the standup battle so far.
Kelly misses with a looping right.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Caschera closes the distance and clinches.
Caschera can't get the takedown.
Kelly has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Caschera tries to pull guard but Kelly won't allow it.
Griando Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Caschera.
Kelly is trying to break the clinch but Caschera is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Caschera walks into a left hand.

Caschera has managed to clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Kelly's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Caschera drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kelly wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Caschera ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Caschera no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Caschera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kelly has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kelly stays in close to Caschera's body and controls the position.
Caschera wants to sweep but no luck.
Caschera throws a couple of heel strikes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kelly is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kelly drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kelly jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Caschera tries for a takedown but Kelly sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kelly slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Caschera takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kelly throws a series of strikes that have Caschera backpedaling.
Caschera takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Kelly thuds a left hand into Caschera's body.
Caschera changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kelly tries to avoid it but Caschera manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kelly to the ground. Kelly escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Griando Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Caschera.

Caschera throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kelly misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kelly takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Kelly is not content to let Caschera control the position.
Kelly is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Max Caschera has got the better of the ground game so far.

Caschera throws a strike aimed at the side of Kelly's head but Kelly avoids it well.

Caschera tries for a kimura but Kelly is defending well.
Kelly is looking to reverse the position.
Kelly struggling a bit here.
Caschera lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kelly is trying to control Caschera's posture but Caschera avoids it.
Kelly is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Caschera asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Griando Kelly is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Caschera throws a strike aimed at the side of Kelly's head but Kelly avoids it well.

I would just about give that final round to Max Caschera.
I think Kelly has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
