Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kong Le!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bot Botanovic!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Le blocks a head kick by Botanovic.
Le throws a head kick that misses
and Botanovic holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Le looking to throw knees to the head but Botanovic is blocking nicely.
Botanovic is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Le pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Botanovic goes for a takedown in the clinch but Le prevents it.
Botanovic keeps control of Le as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Botanovic changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Le fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kong Le has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bot Botanovic.
Nice uppercut lands for Le. That snapped Botanovic's head back.
Botanovic feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Le's calf.
Botanovic throws a sloppy head kick
and Le counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Le throws a sloppy head kick and Botanovic moves out of range easily.
Le throws the left hand but Botanovic avoids the punch easily.
Le throws a lazy head kick
and Botanovic counters with a nice body kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Botanovic throws a head kick but Le moves out of range.

Le throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Le throws a sloppy head kick
and Botanovic counters with an inside leg kick.
Le is breathing heavily.
Botanovic doesn't manage to clinch there - Le circles away.
Le walks forward, straight into a front kick from Botanovic.
Botanovic tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Botanovic tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Le paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Le tries to bum rush Botanovic with a series of wild strikes but Botanovic uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Botanovic clinches but Le breaks the clinch
and Le counters with a two punch combo.
Le stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Botanovic.
Botanovic closes the distance and clinches up with Le, looking for a takedown. Botanovic pushes Le against the cage but Le circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Le throws a sloppy head kick
and Botanovic counters with a head kick. That will keep Le thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Botanovic pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Botanovic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kong Le is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Botanovic tries to clinch up but Le circles away and keeps his distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Botanovic drives through and clinches with Le against the cage.
Le's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Botanovic scores a takedown into full mount!
Botanovic raining down shots from the mount!
Botanovic pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Le taking shots to the head.
Le tries to buck Botanovic off but he can't manage it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Botanovic working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Le turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Botanovic off and cradles Le's limp body as Botanovic celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Bot Botanovic! Bot Botanovic retains his welterweight title!
