PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dog Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scott Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dog Hunter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Cain as Hunter shoots in.
Cain bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hunter's head.
Cain scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Dog Hunter has been cut.

Hunter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hunter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hunter working for a guillotine from mount but Cain is in no mood to give up.
Cain sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Cain looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Cain is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hunter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hunter wants to take a breather but Cain is having none of it.
Cain moves into full guard.
Hunter should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Cain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Cain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hunter stopping the sweep attempt from Cain.
Cain will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cain looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunter is one step ahead there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cain keeping moving, preventing Hunter from controlling successfully.
Cain looking for a sweep. Not yet Cain, not yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hunter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cain looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Cain looking for a guillotine here but Hunter defends easily.

Hunter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hunter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cain is on top in guard.

Cain postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hunter is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cain defends well.
Cain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cain wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Cain missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cain punishes Hunter's body with a nice straight punch.
Hunter moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hunter takes one on the button.
Hunter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cain but Cain pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cain fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Cain is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Hunter shoots in and drives through. Cain sprawls well.
Scott Cain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dog Hunter.
Hunter takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cain connects with a crisp jab.
Nice cross by Cain.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cain drops Hunter with a straight right hand, right on the button! Cain follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott Cain!
